As we move further into the summer season, the hot weather continues as does customers’ favouring of tried and tested products, large formats, and value brands. While sales remain strong, this spike in demand continues to impact product availability as many of our partners work towards fulfilling orders.
As it relates to LCBO’s current in-stock position, over 45% of shortages are due to supplier production challenges across all categories. We are working collaboratively with all partners to ensure that our in-stock position remains strong, despite the numerous factors at play, and that the customer experience and sales remain as uninterrupted as possible.
I would like to offer a few additional insights:
- All LCBO systems are fully operational, with store inventory at high levels. The combination of inventory already at stores, and that which is ordered and in transit, is in fact much higher than usual for this time of year
- LCBO leadership, myself included, are constantly visiting stores and can confirm that many of the back rooms are filled and being unloaded regularly
- Many stores are now receiving loads on Monday; please note receiving also occurred on Canada Day
- We have heard from many agents who are having great success as in-store visits resume. Please be patient should any LCBO store staff be less aware of return protocols. We continue to update our teams, who are very happy to see you back in stores, and store managers and shift supervisors are always on hand to help out
As you can appreciate, it can take time to ensure that our employees across the province are fully up to date on the processes and protocols in place and have the most up-to-date information. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to connect with LCBO’s Retail Leadership team or your contacts within our Inventory Teams for help.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration. We remain committed to providing updates as needed.
